Two juniors, quarterback Colby Griffin and running back Jake McAlinden, were the chief paymakers. The tandem hooked up for a 54-yard aerial strike that puled the Rams even 14-14 to start the second half. McAlinden also rushed for two TOs and carried 31 times for 180 yards. The Trojans capped a 9-0 run to this year's SCC Division II title by winning their rivalry meet with Sheehan 113-68 on Thursday. Senior captains Sarah Beverage and Kristie Driscoll led the way. combining on the meet-opening 200 medley relay. It was the 17th winning relay Driscol has been a part of this season and the 18th for Beverage, who went on to record her fifth win of the season in the 50-yard freestyle and he fourth in the 100 free. LaRosa rushed for 210 yards and two touchdowns, including a 63-yarder in the fourth quarter to extend South ngton's lead. Moumen, a sophomore at Platt, has won 10 races in the M, fy, 200 and 500 free. She's been on seven first-place relays. DEVARIO REID & SEBASTIAN LOPEZ OLIVIA CARPENTER & BROOKE COONEY SOUTHINGTON VOLLEYBALL WILCOX TECH FOOTBALL Senlor Devario Reid made history Sunday night at Faloon Field. In rushing for 83 yards against Prince Tech, Reid became the first Wlcox Tech running back to go over 1,000 yards in a season. (He's now at 1,076) Reld's teammate Sebastian Lopez also enjoyed a big night The sophomore defensive back picked off a pass in the end zone and returned it 55 yards to set up a touchdown. Lopez was also in on 10 tackles n the Tibe's 22-14 loss Southington volleyball steams into the postsea- son not merely undefeated at 18-0, but ranked No. 2 in the state coaches poll and in line for the No. 1 seed in the Class LL state tounament. Oliva Carpenter and Brooke Cooney have been key pioces to the puzzde.
