A Day to Remember Memorial Day A day to remind ourselves of those who gave their lives for our country, for us! WHEN? In at least 10 major wars and in 18+ aklitional wars and conflict situations from the Revolutionary War (1775) to the Afghanistan operation and even to the present War on Terrorism, which is like no other war. WHO? More than 1,300,000 lives sacrificed in our country's many wars, the cost of liberty. The value placed on our Declaration of Independence, even our possession of "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness." Our historic Jucaco-Christian values and benefits are because of our liberty and God's Grace. When the cost is lost the loss will cost. WHY? Not to aggressively seek to get or to gain what someone else has, whether it be land, power or wealth (see James 4:1-3), but to DEFEND and PROTECT our nation even in these troubling times "and secure the Blessing of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity," and also to secure and maintain our Constitution and Declaration of Independence which is being threatened from within and from without. God's Word opposes intemationalism because a one world govermment opens the door to the total control of a society by a system which cannot and will not do right of and by itself. GOD'S WORD teaches that nations rise and fall in the outworking of human history. A nation may be led to want or to possess what belongs to other nations, but they are hindered from such because of other nations. Each nation is able to maintain the God-given privilege of choosing God and His Word, to choose God's institutions of mariage (of a man and woman), of family, and of law and order. The nations, consisting of families, have the right to defend their territories. Gen. 11:1-9; Rev. 17-18 GEORGE WASHINGTON told his troops: "The time is near at hand which must probably determine whether Americans are to be freemen or slaves; whether they are to have any property they can call their own; whether their houses and farms are to be pillaged and destroyed, and themselves consigned to a state of wretchedness from which no human effort will deliver them. The fate of unbom millions will now depend, under God, on the courage and conduct of this army." BENJAMIN FRANKLIN: "Liberty will not descend to a people, a people must raise themselves to liberty." DANIEL WEBSTER: "God grants liberty only to those who kowe it and are always ready to defend it." PATRICK HENRY: "Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery?" PRINCIPLE: When those who know and remember fail to teach and to display to the following generation the rights, responsibilities and privileges, it is only a matter of time until they, by neglect, fail to appreciate and guard the freedoms American men and women have paid for with the loss of their lives and the loss of their limbs. Judges 2:7,10,11; Psalm 78:1-8 As the nation of Israel had the right to choose life and blessing in their land and lives (Deut. 30:19-20) because of the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ (Isa. 53; Lev. 16-17), so we can choose Him and the resultant LIFE and BLESSING by an act of our own will. "But as many as reccived HIM, to them gave HE power to become the sons (chikdren] of God, even to them that believe on His Name." "He that hath the Son hath LIFE; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life" (Johnl:12: IJohn 5:12), "And ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free" (John 8:32).
