New Britain Parks and Recreation Department

The New Britain Parks and Recreation Department was founded in 1854 and now consists of seven divisions; parks, recreation, cemetery, youth services, veterans affairs, commission on people with disabilities and golf. Overall, the Department employs over 70 full-time staff members and more than 400 part-time staff. There is also a Parks and Recreation Commission that meets monthly to discuss policies and procedures of the Department.
